9 years ago over MLK weekend... |
Tomorrow at 5:00 a.m. we head back to Jackson Hole, the Tetons and Yellowstone! This will be trip #6 for Don and I and trip #5 for the girls. This will also be our first winter adventure as a family in the Tetons. Don and I took a spontaneous MLK weekend trip about 9 years ago without the girls and were there for a total of under 48 hours. This time we will spend 5 nights in one of our favorite places as we welcome 2019 in true Rahn style!!
So...why now and why in the winter? First, this is a belated 50th birthday trip/present for me and a chance for the 4 of us to truly be together without the crazy world that we live in interfering! We are going to try to escape and just be 4 Rahns for 5 days. I CAN'T WAIT!!Of course it wouldn't be a Rahn adventure if we didn't have lots of adventures planned...
- A full day SnowCoach tour to Yellowstone National Park - stops along the way and lunch at Old Faithful Inn. Most of Yellowstone is closed to car traffic in the winter and the only way to get there is by snowmobile or snowcoach.
- A 4-hour private "leisurely paced" snow-shoe adventure through Grand Teton National Park - again, much of the park is closed to car traffic in the winter and this is our chance to take a hike through the winter woods with a Teton naturalist
- Ice skating
- Fireworks over the Tetons for New Year's Eve
- 5 nights in our favorite hotel in Teton Village
- A sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge
- Tram ride to 11,000 feet as we watch the skiers and eat waffles :)
I'll be posting updates throughout our adventure as we escape and reconnect before Carleigh heads back to UMW and the three of us start back to our busy lives!
Stay tuned as we welcome 2019 Rahn style in Wyoming!!!
