It's Time for...Katie's Birthday in the Tetons! Day 2

Day 2 started with an early wake-up for Don and Carleigh as they headed out for a big hike together, while Katie and I stayed back to enjoy a slow morning on her birthday!!

Katie's birthday surprise from the Teton Mountain Lodge

Don and Carleigh ventured back into the Tetons to do some early morning animal spotting and then beat the crowds to Jenny Lake. They were going to do the 8 mile hike around the lake. We have visited Jenny Lake previously, on one of our early visits, and took the ferry across to the mid point and hiked up to Inspiration Point, then ferried back.

This time, they were all in and were going to hike the whole perimeter of the lake. They did beat the crowds and started the hike at 7:22 am.

They finished the hike and had a much deserved lunch and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for a fun evening celebrating Katie!!

Meanwhile, Katie and I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and walk around Teton Village. She then got ready for her birthday massage at the Teton Mountain Lodge Spa Terre.

I enjoyed some down time while Katie was having her massage.

We all got ready for dinner and headed into Jackson. We stay in Teton Village, which is about a 20 minute drive into the downtown Jackson area. We love being away from the crowds and enjoying a little more quiet. We also love being close enough that we can spend lots of time in Jackson.

We drove in and found a parking spot and the first stop was Cowboy Coffee! This is an all time favorite of Carleigh's and Katie is always up for a fun coffee shop.

Everyone

After a bit of shopping and fun time wandering around the town. We headed to dinner at Katie's choice. I suspected that my Broadway loving daughter would choose the Jackson Hole Playhouse Dinner and a Show package. :)

We were able to get dinner and a show tickets for the 8:00 pm performance of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. It's like a summer stock/community theater experience. The performers are also the waiters and waitresses and they are mostly college age students majoring in theater at colleges in the area, though some are from across the country. One of the leads is from Washington D.C.  They are in Jackson for the summer and it's a lot of fun. Every season is a new show, and we had visited on a previous visit and saw Cat Baillou.

Katie was very excited and I have to say that Don was a trooper...as long as the singing waitresses and waiters didn't bother him....

The sun was bright as we were waiting to be seated for dinner.

Dinner is served in the saloon part of the building and then you walk across the lobby and you are ready to enter the theater. It's a lot of fun!!

Carleigh had another adult Huckleberry drink...this time a Teton Spritzer.

Unfortunately for Don...he wasn't able to avoid the singing waitresses. Our waitress, who also played Liza in the show, definitely targeted Don for part of her song. He tried to look not interested and avoid the attention, but she found him!

Katie also got a birthday song from all of the waiters and waitresses and a birthday dessert.

The show didn't disappoint and  all of the performers were fantastic. It was a fun way to celebrate Katie's 19th birthday!

It's a neat place all lit up after dark

We got back to the room after a quick stop for breakfast food and gas. Tomorrow we check out and begin part 2 of our trip. We are heading into Yellowstone and out the NE Entrance to spend 2 nights in Cooke City, Montana. We're hoping for a 5:00 am departure to beat the crowds to our first stop.

Will we find the Yellowstone Traffic Jam that Don is hoping for?

Will we get a parking spot at our first stop?
Will we find things to do in Cooke City, population of about 100?

Stay tuned as the Rahns continue to celebrate Seldom A Dull Moment in Yellowstone and Montana!
