Making Memories in Alaska Day 4: I Musk Ox you a question as we drive to Homer!

Today was a relocation day for our next big adventure and then Don Rahn found another smaller adventure that we all agreed sounded pretty interesting. So.....rather than just driving 7 hours from Glacier View to Homer, Alaska...we first detoured to the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer.

One final look at the view before we leave the tents!

Don found this place and was way too excited for it, so we booked an educational tour and visited the Musk Ox and learned a lot! It was coincidentally on our way to the next stop and a good break after about an hour of driving.

As I said it is a working farm with one of its goals being to educate the public about the Musk Ox. So, let's get educated!! :)  It really is very interesting, especially when you can see these animals up close and personal!

This is Susie, our guide. She has lived in Alaska almost her whole life.
And here they are, they all have names and are cared for as domesticated animals. It was a lot of fun learning about them and exploring.

After our visit to the Musk Ox farm we decided to get a big lunch before beginning the trek to Homer.
This was a fun restaurant that we tried to visit yesterday and the wait was too long, so we made an effort to eat here today.
After lunch, we started out...hoping to be there for an 8:00 pm dinner reservation.

For those following along at home, this is our route today:

The weather was great and we began the journey.

Our first roadside stop was at Beluga Point. Spoiler Alert...no belugas!

We made it! We arrived in Homer and began the long trek down Homer Spit to our new home for the next 2 nights.

The Homer Spit is a geographical landmark located in Homer, Alaska on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula. The spit is a 4.5-mile long piece of land jutting out into Kachemak Bay. The spit is also home to the Homer Boat Harbor.

our resort was at the very end of the spit, aptly named, "Land's End Resort."

We checked into our beachfront lodge and explored a bit before heading to the hotel restaurant for dinner and right to bed.

Today was not a big event day, and still an exhausting day. This state is beautiful and I am so excited to be able to see so many different parts of it. Yesterday we were climbing glaciers and now we are at the beach!
