Even though it was a day of nothing and relaxing, there were many photos taken. When you have teenage daughters there are always LOTS of pictures!!
Our day started with Boogies Belly! The name doesn't sound appetizing and Don and I were very interested if the food would be. This place came highly recommended on TripAdvisor for breakfast. They are only open from 6 - 11 every morning and will close early if they run out of meat pies. We ventured out at about 6:30 and it was a 3 minute walk from our hotel. Very cool little hole in the wall with tables and chairs to sit if you wanted to. We got two breakfast fryjacks (pastries filled with what you choose - our choice: eggs, bacon, cheese) and of course...had to try the meat pies.

We stopped at the Belize Chocolate Company on our way back. Fun little store that sells the chocolate that is made here on the island. Their chocolate is 70% chocolate and 30 % artificial ingredients...sugar, milk, etc. We learned in our Chocolate class that Hershey's is only 10% chocolate and 90% artificial ingredients. 10% is the lowest you can have by law to call something chocolate.
Had to take a picture with the manatee in the town square of San Pedro.
A nice walk back to the Phoenix along the beach.
The rest of the morning and most of the afternoon was spent at the pool - lunch poolside and frozen drinks!
After the pool, happy hour land then out to find dinner..
drink of the evening - LandShark - Jimmy Buffet's beer |
We then headed out to find Elvi's Kitchen - GREAT restaurant!
Had to end the day with some night time swimming and a beautiful moon over the water!
So this relaxing day helped us recover from Lamanai yesterday and prepare us for tomorrow. Tomorrow includes 8 hours out on the water...fishing, snorkeling and a private beach barbecue of what we catch...let's hope we know how to fish!
So stay tuned for Day 4 as the Rahns head out into the open waters for fishing, and snorkeling on our own private tour!
We will be exploring The Barrier Reef which lies about half a mile off the windward side of the island. It is the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere and the second longest in the world.
There should be some interesting pictures to follow!
