The Rahns Return to Belize - 2018 Style!!

19 years + 11 days ago on July 5, 1999 Don and I landed on Ambergris Caye, Belize for our honeymoon!

Tomorrow, June 25, 2018 we land on Ambergris Caye, Belize with a 16 year old daughter and an 18 year old high school graduate daughter for our "Graduationmoon," Sweet Sixteen Celebration and our 19th Anniversary celebration. 

Though I'm sure a lot has changed in the last 19 years, I am so excited to share this beautiful island with Carleigh and Katie and see if Don and I can find familiar places. We won't need the internet cafe to email back home and our room comes with a TV and iPad hookup in 2018. And we can stay connected to home through WhatsApp and iMessage.Though technology has advanced... the snorkeling and laid-back island life remains the same (so I've been told). No cars, just golf carts and lots of fun places to eat and drink.

This will be a Rahn vacation, and it will be a bit slower than the typical Rahn vacation. The past 2 months have been a nonstop thrill ride and we NEED some relaxing time. So...this vacation will include pool days and sleeping in, while also having lots of adventure!

Our adventure begins with tomorrow with an early morning plane ride from Dulles to Miami, then on to Belize City. Once in Belize City, we board a small 12 seater to island hop to Ambergris Caye. There we will be picked up by golf cart taxi and taken to our resort, The Phoenix. 

19 years ago we stayed at Ramon's Village in their honeymoon cabanas...very secluded and romantic. This visit brings us to The Phoenix - 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom Condotel with maid service 2x day and on site spa and restaurants. We will be visiting Ramon's for dinner one night to share that memory with the girls.

I am hoping to use the resort WiFi to live blog our adventures for posterity, knowing time is scarce when we return. If you want to follow along as the Rahns return to Belize, I'm hoping to post every day or 2  while we are on the island!

Stay tuned for snorkeling with sharks and rays, Mayan ruins, spa days, free yoga in Belize, 18 yr old drinking age pictures, fishing, golf cart rides to Secret Beach and lots of fun!
